Conceived in Italy and born in the USA in 1957 to an Italian mother from Piemonte who became an archeologist and a Bulgarian refugee from World War II who became a medical doctor, Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev is an Italian and US citizen who became a curator, theoretician, and historian of art.
